The Songs of Distant EarthOn Christmas day, 1968, Bill Anders was recorded quoting from the Book of Genesis from aboard the Apollo 8 orbiting the Moon:

   The village looks on in horror at the woman standing in the centre. Her arms are stretched sideways and raised towards the night sky, her eyes closed and her head tilted slightly downwards. She stands there, naked as the day she was born, the moonlight reflecting complimentarily off her smooth, curvaceous body.     The villagers hold their breath. They have seen this before.

Roses are Black - Prologue   Through the pouring torrents of rain, the crouching figure of a man could just be made out from the top of one of the watch towers in the camp. A newly trained guard, Mathieu, squinted briefly, trying to see what he was doing.     The compound was empty apart from the figure. Wooden buildings lined the disciplinary parade square, with dozens of cramped sleeping quarters lined up row upon row along the back wall. Yep, here I am in Australia! Tis pretty awesome, and although to most people that means doing less art, I can't really go down from doing no art so I may as well go up! Yeah, I've been doing some guitar design for a friend, and if I get her permission to do so I'll load them up here.

The countryside is awesome, it's so wide and empty! In the UK every spare bit of land is either swamped in trees and woodland or used as farmland, we have no spare bits of land! Here there's so much! The people make use of it, the houses are all on one floor (bungalow dpes sound like an Aussie word when you think on it) and the gardens are mahussive! But even so there are still vast areas with nothing there.

I'm here in winter so everything is surprisingly green, but it's still a good 17 degrees C. In a few weeks I'm catching a plane up to Cairns to see the Great Barrier Reef, and there it'll be up to 26 degrees. In winter. Ridiculous, but I won't complain.

There's a few people I wanted to send postcards to, and I asked them for addresses and haven't got them yet. REMINDER ALERT! Email me, my phone is lying uselessly several thousand miles away
